Hi there, this is Darren Wilson, Editor of the Boom Bust Bulletin, and writer of these free weekly blogs.
Every now and then, the Property Sharemarket Economics (PSE) team is invited to speak to various financial media across the globe.
So, it was for PSE co-founders and Directors Phili Anderson and Akhil Patel recently.
They were both invited to join Andrew Pancholi on a recent You Tube video on behalf of the “Foundation for the study of cycles” (FSC). This is a website that is well worth your time investigating – click here.
The original founder of the Foundation was economist Edward Russel Dewey. He was Chief Economic Analyst for the Department of Commerce carrying out an assignment from President Herbert Hoover to identify the causes of the Great Depression.
It was during this assignment that Dewey identified verifiable cycles in many economic variables. More astounding, he found that when certain cycles came together at the same time it coincided with significantly large dips in the market.
In his important paper, The Case for Cycles (July 1967), Dewey wrote, “There is considerable evidence … that there are natural environmental forces that alternately stimulate and depress mankind in the mass. These same forces may also affect plant and animal life, weather, and even such normally unchanging things as chemical reactions.”
Andrew Pancholi is the creator of the Market Timing Report and is co-author of the bestseller Zero Hour and The Lost Coffee Courses of W.D. Gann. He is also a sitting board member of FCS.
Whenever either gentleman (or in this case – both!) are invited to speak like this, then I will write a special blog to you to make you aware. This is an exclusive perk for being a valued Property Cycle Investor member.
Today is one such opportunity.
During their appearance on the “Foundation for the study of cycles” video, Akhil, Phil, and Andrew spoke about the following.
- Akhil speaks about his experience with selling and promoting his new book “The Secret Wealth Advantage” and how he first met Phil and subsequently began working together.
- Phil and Akhil explain what the 18.6-year Real Estate Cycle is (and how the work of the foundation has assisted this work) and why land is so critical to this study.
- Akhil recounts the outcome of a meeting with a bunch of homebuilders he and Phil attended in 2014 whilst Phil recounts a meeting with senior bank economists in 2006 he attended with Fred Harrison.
- Andrew asks Phil and Akhil just how global the real estate cycle is today and the similarities between what Japan did in the 1980s and Saudi Arabia today.
- Akhil and Phil explain precisely what the ‘economic rent’ is.
- Andrew asks Akhil what the individual phases of a typical real estate cycle are, and what key points can he highlight regarding making the maximum possible returns out of the stock market. Which stocks tend to outperform currently?
- When is the best time to buy real estate and is commercial or residential property the superior buy?
- How do commodities fit within the auspice of the real estate cycle? Akhil explains what the long wave is and how it affects commodity prices.
- How important to both Phil and Akhil have the work of renowned economists Henry George and Homer Hoyt been in shaping their own research and understanding of cycles.
- How the game of monopoly mirrors the state of today’s rent enclosed economies.
- Andrew asks Phil and Akhil what other cycles do they both study? Do they believe that the emergence of AI means this is a real estate cycle that will be driven primarily on technology? Is there a dark side to that technology that the real estate cycle will unveil during the upcoming bust?
- How the covid lockdowns saw the power, very briefly, taken back by the people, and how the elites have been wresting it back from them ever since.
- Andrew poses the question about just how badly those banks most exposed to real estate be affected by the upcoming bust?
- Is Bitcoin and other crypto coins part of this real estate cycle?
- Is China “really” tanking? What if President Xi has got things right? What does the future look like for India?
- Andrew asks Phil and Akhil about their thoughts relating to a changing global world order such as the BRIC’s countries looking at expanding and their wish for a commodity based currency.
During this video, Akhil gives you some exclusive insights about his brand new book “The Secret Wealth Advantage” which is now available on Amazon UK, Amazon US and Booktopia Australia.
